About rhinoplasty (nose job)

Rhinoplasty – also called a ‘nose job’ – is one of our most common cosmetic procedures here at London Facial Surgery.

Is rhinoplasty dangerous or painful?

Rhinoplasty surgery is considered one of the most complex facial plastics procedures.

It also carries a reputation, of having a rather uncomfortable post-operative recovery, mainly related to significant bruising, pain and blocked sensation with inability to breathe through the nose.

Patients who have undergone rhinoplasty often complain of the misery that they have to endure whilst removing the nasal packing that was inserted at the time of surgery.

Safe and comfortable rhinoplasty at London Facial Surgery

Fortunately, we have vast experience with rhinoplasty and with different types of facial plastic and cosmetic surgery procedures, such as

  • facelift surgery
  • eyelid surgery (also termed as blepharoplasty)
  • forehead and brow lift surgery and
  • other facial reconstructive procedures, including scar revision.

Our patients who have had rhinoplasty surgery recover seamlessly well, with minimal bruising, pain or discomfort.

This of course is because of our meticulous surgical planning and execution of surgical steps.

What happens during rhinoplasty surgery?

Before starting any treatment with a patient, we assess their medical fitness for surgery.

We also discuss the aesthetic outcomes they are looking for, sometimes using clinical photographs that can be morphed to demonstrate the desired post-operative result.

This means all rhinoplasty patients can see their desired nose will look like, even before proceeding to surgery. They can discuss any particular worries they may have before starting the surgery.

These photographs are also used as a guide during the surgery, and are compared with intra-operative photos to maximise the chance of achieving the patient’s desired aesthetic outcome.

Our surgical team includes Mr D’Souza’s own expert anaesthetist, specialist surgical assistant and scrub nurse. This means the whole surgical team works seamlessly to produce the best possible outcome.

Pre- and post-operative care

Post-operatively, the patients are looked after by an expert, dedicated team of nurses and discharged with all the required follow-up instructions.

The external splint placed on the nose, is removed at one-week follow-up.

The stitches are all absorbable which means the patients do not go through the uncomfortable process of stitch removal.

Mr. D’Souza operates an ‘open door’ policy, which means the patients are welcome to come back and see Mr. D’Souza at any time post-operatively in addition to the essential post-operative follow up appointments at no extra cost.
