Most cosmetic surgery procedures are considered elective and therefore not covered under insurance.
However, each individual insurance company determines what procedures they will or will not cover. The biggest factor insurance companies consider is whether the procedure is medical/reconstructive or cosmetic in nature.
If your procedure is considered as a medical requirement/reconstructive, you will need a claims form from your insurers that may need to be completed by us and/or your GP. Most insurers will always require a GP referral letter to the specialist regarding your condition.
It is worth checking with your insurers to see what your policy covers as many companies have either excess payments or cost sharing schemes in place, requiring you, as the patient to pay for part of your treatment. Please determine the details of your scheme, as ultimately it is you, the patient who is liable for any shortfall.
If your insurer gives you a pre-authorisation number, please provide this along with your policy membership number either at your consultation or inform our secretary as soon as possible following your appointment.
